Since I used to be a middle school band director, I am extremely familiar with the teaching beginners. I customize all lessons to each student's goals. For high school students, we will determine their starting level and goals they want to achieve. For three months to six months, students work on a solo of their choice. Read More

Music is a big part of everything that I do. I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1992. I have performed in ensembles, for weddings and special events, and provided accompaniment services to other musicians. I enjoy the complexity and challenges of classical music the most, but I also enjoy the experiences of playing music that makes me feel good. Whether it's music for church, school, accompanying for soloists in competitions or just making music for fun, I love what I do! Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I truly believe in giving my students the freedom to select the songs and/or genres they like and that's because I believe passion is an integral aspect of learning. Read More
