I teach students how to play as well as read music. I teach a variety of techniques and styles of music using books and making up lessons for my students. I teach my students at any age how to play the set, along with snare drum techniques, and play with songs.
I have been teaching piano since 2010. I started teaching part-time on weekends at the best music academy in Thailand called "KPN Music Academy" having more than 50 branches nationwide. After I graduated from law school in Thailand, I started teaching 2 branches of KPN and I also provided private lessons to students at home. Overall, I taught over 30 kids and among them achieved successful results from Trinity College London Piano Examination (at least pass with merits).
I have been playing music for 15 years and have over6 years of experience teaching in my home studio and at students homes. I started teaching right before entering college in andaround the Boston area.In addition to guitar and bass, i also am experienced in drums, piano and voice. I was self taught untill i started taking lessons at around age 16. At 19 i began studying with my teacher at UMASS and gained a wealth of musical knowledge. I encompass his lesson plan into my own as much as possible because it was his teachings that got me to where I am today. I find with my students that a healthy balance of practicing fundamentals and practicing pieces of music that they are very passionate about produces a great deal of inspiration and fuels their creative process. I encourage my students to enter competitions and recitals, as well as compose their own material. I also find that seeing my students start to write their own material really gives them confidence in their own abilities! I make sure my lessons plans are fun and interactive, because playing music should be!
I like to teach students 4 major things: Scales, ear training, music theory and a repertoire piece. Scales: 12 major and minor. Just one octave to build their dexterity up. I also like teaching intermediate students the modes (ex. Lydian, Mixolydian, and Phrygian).Ear Training (during lesson, no HW required): I Teach students to try and hear the difference between major, minor, diminished and augmented chords. This is fun to teach, because it can help students decipher what key a piece is in. It also can help students to analyze music better down the road. Music Theory: I teach this from the bastien series books. This typically includes things such as: Time signatures, key signatures, intervals, tempos, and articulations.Repertoire Piece: Students and I choose a piece from a book that they can work on. I ask that they work on the material with hands separately first, until they can play it with the correct notational values, and then slowly work with both hands together and then practice it well until it is up to speed.

We offer piano lessons for students of all ages, including adults. Whether you are a complete beginner on the instrument, or have not played the piano in many years, the knowledgeable instructors in our network can definitely assist you on your journey of developing your musical skills.
There is no specific teaching method that all Musika teachers adhere to. All students will have lessons customized to their needs and goals as lessons progress. If there is a specific teaching style you are looking for, we will keep that in mind as we make your teacher match. Many teachers will have a few method books that they use for lessons, which will include exercises and techniques for practicing. All lessons will cover aspects of learning notes, proper technique, ear training, and how to read music.
As students will need to practice the content taught during their lessons, they will need to invest in a digital piano or a keyboard. There are a number of different keyboards on the market, however we suggest looking to buy one with 61 keys or more. Keyboards with weighted action keys are most like that of a real piano, and are recommended. Keyboards are often a cheaper and more convenient option than digital pianos or real acoustic pianos, as they can be transported around and played using headphones. That said, if buying an acoustic piano is within your budget, it will provide the most satisfying learning experience.
Musika offers customized one-on-one music lessons in your home - a smart and simple solution for busy parents and students, who may be looking to save time by not traveling to and from instruction. You can maximize the benefits of your busy schedule, while learning in a familiar environment.
Piano lessons for children generally focus on learning the fundamentals of the technique of the instrument and learning to read music and rhythms. We suggest beginning piano lessons no earlier than age 4, due to the attention span of the child, as well as the strength they have in their hands for playing. Piano Lessons will offer an excellent introduction to learning music for a child. Music theory and musicianship skills will also be taught during the lessons. Piano lessons are a great choice for introducing the art of music to your child!

Dave is a fantastic teacher. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to students that I think is invaluable. At the same time, this does not limit him from working with beginning students. He is very communicative with the parents as far as schedule changes. We are so grateful to have found him!!

I am in my 60s and decided to get back into playing my guitar. I thought taking lessons would be a good way to formalize the endeavor. I did have some concern about whether working with a teacher would work out as I've behave only played for my own enjoyment for a long time. Peter and I have had a few lessons together and I am truly enjoying the experience. He is very supportive and flexible. We arrived at a three gold approach that is really working for me. We focus on developing a playlist, learning some of the more iconic tunes from leading artist that I would have a hard time learning on my own and developing some technical skills related to style and music theory. Now I look forward to my next lesson and am already playing better and enjoying the journey. Peter is a great teacher I'm lucky to have the opportunity to work with him.

“My son has been instructed by Mark for almost four years. Mark is an outstanding teacher. His credentials are by themselves impressive, but his ability to relate his knowledge to kids is even more so. Connor's ability to understand and read music is fantastic. Mark also knows the performance side of playing drums and has encouraged Connor to actually incorporate his knowledge to play alone and in a band. He is patient and encouraging which is what motivates Connor to work and practice. He is a mentor as well as a teacher. He is superior at what he does and we highly recommend him.” Ro J.

Karleen has really turned it around for me. My previous teacher (not from Musika) had me feeling anxious, upset, and incapable...NOT the desired result! Karleen's method is clear, appropriate for my beginning level, and (best of all) actually lets me achieve some progress! I'm actually looking forward to my lessons now!

Noel is amazing. She is helping me to work toward my vocal goals for auditions to several musical theaters. She has helped me choose strong audition pieces and is teaching excellent ways to get the sound I need in a safe and healthy way. She works outside our lessons on new warm ups and new music pieces. She is the best.

I have known Erin since I attended graduate school at the Hartt School in Connecticut. Last year she came to the college I teach at to give a master class and talk about her experiences as a musician abroad. She has proven that she is a capable and wonderful musician and educator. I highly recommend studying with her if you're lucky enough to have the opportunity!

Amber is personal and cares about her students. She is flexible in her schedule and maintains a professional attitude in her lessons. Her want for her students to succeed makes her excel as a teacher. She is very knowledgeable about music and extremely experienced. Additionally, she includes external activities aside from lessons for the students who wish to advance themselves externally. Really a great teacher who offers great opportunity.

I really like her. And as an adult student, a good teacher who keeps the pace up but still keeps it reasonable in terms of difficulty is really hard to find. She does a great job of explaining little detail things in terms I (as a musically challenged human) can understand. I'm having a blast! 10/10 would recommend!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
