As a pianist, I took classes from IU that broadened my capability as a teacher to teach everything from general, choral, and instrumental music. I had my senior piano solo recital. I have a diverse range of performing experiences as a vocalist, including Opera, International Vocal Ensemble, and show choirs. With voice lessons, I have learned a lot about singing and being able to teach healthy singing. I began teaching while I was in High School and I would teach the younger students who were freshman and sophomores the tenor saxophone. Once I went to Eastman, I taught several people throughout the course of the four years there. I beleive that, particulalry when teaching the saxophone and flute, a mix of classical fundamental technique is very important as well as incorporating the jazz or rock repertoire. I first got into music when I was in elementary school. My first instrument was the upright bass fiddler. This help me learn the notes on the bass clef. I later learned to play trumpet which was the instrument that used to audition to get into the Navy Band.
