Marcus grew up in various cities along the Eastern Coast of the United States. Throughout his school career, he sang in choirs and ensembles, which helped to shape his love of music. At the age of 15, Marcus received his first guitar, and has never looked back. Marcus moved to Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C., where he sought to study under Jay Brighton. Jay had a profound influence on Marcus in the areas of music theory, ear training, and, most importantly, the discipline of practice.  After studying with Jay for a few years, Marcus moved to Virginia Beach, VA where he learned from players such as Scott Mishoe and Jay Rakes. In the mean time, Marcus began playing in various bands and recorded his first album Martian Landscape. At times, you would even be able to catch Marcus on stage with Paul Gilbert.  Upon graduating from high school, Marcus wanted to further his knowledge of the music industry, so he moved to Nashville, TN and attended Middle Tennessee State University to study Recording Engineering. During his college years, Marcus continued to play in several bands; he played on numerous recording projects; he taught private lessons; he played in musicals such as Little Shop of Horrors and Grease; and in his spare time, he studied under professional session guitarist, Gwain Reifsnider. Marcus is now working on new material, doing various studio dates, working with different bands and teaching private lessons in the Atlanta area.

  In my classroom transdisciplinary is innate to my teach style.  I teach all skills in my class using many methods including but, not limited to the following: Clapping, singing, stomping, writing, modeling, syllables (math), one-on-one  Beginning players usually start with a short Assessment of their knowledge of music. We will spend a lot of time thorughout their experience on Tone, Intonation, Technique, Range, and Style using various styles.    Experienced players usually start with a short Assessment of their knowledge of music. A high focus of our Studio time will be spent developing Music/Solos etc. they are already preparing for Honors groups, High School and College. We will spend a lot of time thorughout their experience on Tone, Intonation, Technique, Range, and Style using various styles.

My teaching experince dates back to 2009, as I began studying music in Atlanta and teaching part time to supplement my living expenses. Upon graduation, I started working full time with private lessons companies in the Atlanta area and have seen great success amongst my students. My experience has been with beginners all the way to advanced, professional players and I love the challenges of the entire spectrum. My entire philosophy is based around my student's interest and having fun is the key element to the process. I encourage all of my students to enter the live world of music via open mics and jams and I am happy to accompany when my schedule allows. We can practice in bedrooms and studios all day long but until one experinces the energy of performing live, then there is an enitre energetic aspect that is not being fullfilled.

One of my main jobs after graduating The Institute of Production and Recording was teaching music lessons. Since 2011 I've taught drums and piano lessons for various companies from ages 3-40. To see a student who has a serious passion for music grow from not knowing anything about the piano or drums to making music is probably one of the most fulfilling feelings I could have.
