I am a very dedicated, passionate, and hardworking instructor who loves to spread my love of music to students of all ages. In 2010, I graduated from the first degree granting Historically Black Institution, The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Vocal Performances and a minor in piano performance. I individualize my instruction based on each student's musical background and goals. Each student is unique, and has his or her own unique learning style. However, for beginning piano students I tend to start with either the Bastien Piano Library, Alfred Piano Library, or Faber Piano Adventures to provide a basic groundwork and methodology. For vocal students, I craft their study depending on the style of music that the student expresses an interest in and organize their technical studies to accommodate that vocal style. Read More

I taught piano, cello, and music theory for 10 years, both privately and in schools. I always encourage students to seek out and explore music that they enjoy and wish to master. I have taught students of all ages and can provide to each individual's needs. I've prepped students for auditions, entrance to music schools, competitions, and I've taught complete beginners. My teaching career officially began back in 2007, when I was hired to work at a small, family-run music school in Laurel, Maryland. It was in this test lab that I began to formulate an approach to learning piano quite different from the more traditional ways the instrument was commonly taught. I began teaching piano when my mentor gave me several opportunities to teach her students and she guided me through the art of piano pedagogy. I began teaching independently after I attended community college in order to pursue a career in music. I am very passionate about music, and I try to motivate my students towards a similar love of music of all styles and genres. In 2014, I have completed my studies at Boston University, where I completed a PhD in Musicology with a focus on jazz of the 1930s and 1940s. I have performed at such venues as the Kennedy Center, the Boston Symphony Hall, the Taylor House, and the Kreeger Museum as a solo and ensemble musician. Read More

For beginning students I typically start with Bastien piano books which have 4 different levels. Once they finish 4 levels, I will begin to introduce classical songs, Hymn, Jazz, Game music, Pop and also teach them free styles with chord progressions. Also, my students can learn any songs they want to play since I am able to remake songs based on their level. For adults, I focus on teaching the sight-reading skill with the right technic and theory and also my adult students can learn any genre of music with me. Read More
