For beginning students who are younger I typically start with Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures. If a student is older I will put them in the accelerated method or the adult method. I will sometimes supplement with Alfred's Premier series or Music Tree. Once a student has progressed to a certian level, I will introduce other piano literature to supplement the method book learning. I try to best fist the goals of my students whether that is starting from the beginning with traditional piano lessons or to achieve some other goal or purpose. Read More

Bastien Books are my favorite piano books to teach out of. But, Others are good as well. (Piano adventures, Alfred, Faber and Faber, ect) For piano we always do Theory , Technic, and go through a song book which will take you gradually through the levels and correspond the Theory and technique lessons. I began piano lessons at the age of 5, and organ lessons at age 10. I became the junior organist at Lagonda United Methodist Church at age 14, playing at the early service. By age 17, I became their principle organist and choir accompanist. Five years later, I also became the organist and choir director at Highlands United Church of Christ. Its important for them to have something to show as soon as possible. As the student advances, the Mickey Baker books are good for the interested jazz student. Ibegan teaching private lessons from 2004 and tried to consistently teaching students in my home studio. I was a counselor and private lesson instructor at the OSU Flute Workshop from 2011 to 2013. Playing duets with student, learn very exciting extended techniques, and various repertoire are features I emphasize for students to help them enjoy and motivate to learn.
