It is important for me to understand what the student does not understand. The only help I may ask for is to make sure that practice does happen. I seldom ever say that practice should be timed, i.e. sit at the piano for 30 minutes no matter what. Instead, I assign a particlar song a certain number of times. At first, practice would probably take no more than 10 minutes. That time increases as the songs increase in difficulty, within reason. Read More

I have a more laid back teaching style that is adapted to the student's personality and learning style. The last thing that any student wants is a stressful environment. Musical lessons should be challenging and have an element of fun as well. The student should leave the lesson wanting to come back to another lesson not feeling like they should put their instrument down and give up. I focus on the positives and give methods on how to overcome the negatives.  Ultimately, I want the student to go back to their organization and be able to correct discrepancies as a result of what they have learned.  Read More

I feel that I can relate to most students, no matter their skill level or dedication. I found my passion in music later in the game than most, and I know that I can inspire young musicians to be all that they can be. I am primarily a teacher, but I also like to form a friendship with my students. I want to be someone they can look up to and reach out to if need be. Read More

I have been teaching privately since 2010 and have been consistently been teaching private lessons since. I was a part of a directed teaching program at Cedarville University where my teaching was observed by peers and professors. I spent a year teaching general music to childern in Italy as well as private piano lessons. I also have experience teaching group classes and entering students in recitals and competitions. It's my goal as a teacher to make sure my students love learning but to also learn to play naturally and confidently. Read More

I believe in cultivating music at a high level from the very start emphasizing that one must listen in order to play. I encourage activities that foster focus and attention to detail. The more deeply one listens ,the richer the musical experience.. I tap into the concept of octave theory utilizing solfege as well as linear concepts on single strings.. For timing and feel I encourage the use of a metronome to solidify rhythm and have come to unlock a method in which to work with the metronome that is not tedious or frustrating.. Read More

I like to learn what my students musical interests are as soon as possible and then to do all I can to nurture that. Since music is something which is played for an audience its important to find them an audience to perform for . It can be just mom and dad, the Girl Scouts campfire sing along, a jam session at the local coffeehouse or sitting in at a blues or jazz jam if no formal recitals are available. Read More

We are all different. Each student has their own pace of learning. So, I encourage this with setting up realistic goals for each student. Every lesson, I write memos about assignemnts, and student's progress compare to previous lesson/week. Therefore, students and parents will receive "Progress Results" in every four lessons. (or every first week of the month.) Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
