My methods vary from student to student. Everyone learns differently. Although i recommend learning how to read music, it is not required and there have been plenty of great drummers that do not read. Positive reinforcement is the most important tool any teacher can have in their arsonal, and I try to praise my students every time I notice imporvements and support and assure them when confronted with difficulties. These questions will help drive my teaching of the student and helps me design lessons that will help them grow. For beginning guitar students, I start with Alfred's Basic Guitar Method. Once a foundation is established, I gauge where the student wants to go stylistically and tailor lesson plans from there. There are a plethora of guitar methods available, but I find it most valuable to learn parts from recordings of the guitarists whom they most want to emulate. Ibegan teaching private lessons from 2004 and tried to consistently teaching students in my home studio. I was a counselor and private lesson instructor at the OSU Flute Workshop from 2011 to 2013. Playing duets with student, learn very exciting extended techniques, and various repertoire are features I emphasize for students to help them enjoy and motivate to learn.
