During my undergraduate time I was apart of those vocal ensembles and worked closely with professors and students to write, arrange and perform full length vocal compositions. Soon after graduation, I was a full-time musician giving freelance voice lessons, and also teaching jazz voice while an artist in residency at Duke Ellington. During my time at Duke, I continued to perform and record around Washington, DC. This is where I began to be recognized for my talent, and was approached by an independent label who would soon thereafter move me to Atlanta, Ga to pursue my goal of being a full-time artist. Typically when I begin with children I incorporate the Hoffman Method and Books such as the Little Mozarts books, Alfred, Faber and Master Theory. I allow for children to learn fundamentals in a fun way so they can begin to read music and perform if they are interested. Students get to learn the basics like Mary had a little lamb, hot cross buns, jingle bells, and other fun tunes. Classes are also available for older beginners interested in learning classical or other styles. Read More

My teaching style starts with really trying to understand the student that I am teaching, when I can do that, it makes the whole process of teaching easier. For example, in my experience, something that works for some students, really wont work for others, and if I can identify why something isnt working for a student, I can give them the right tools to fix it. I will usually start with asking the student to play something for me or see what they want to learn, then give them things based on what I hear in their playing, or what they tell me. Read More

For beginning students both children and adults, I typically start with Bruce Pearson's Standard of Excellence books. Once my younger students have progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for their first recital performance. Once the adults have progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I try to find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction towards that interest, all while keeping the lessons engaging and fun. Displeased with how my playing sounded I started crying. My mother came to me and asked me what was wrong. I told her that I wanted to play piano like Mr. Rogers' friend on the show. I was four years old and from that day forward my musical journey began. I continued piano lessons and often got in trouble with my teachers, I played by ear, and while my piano playing was superb, my sight reading lacked immensely. Read More

My teaching experience began with my junior year in high school. After having withheld the majority knowledge necessary for my own particular developing-repertoire; i began to instruct and tutor my peers personally. In what time that I received to cultivate this desire of mine--to teach, i noticed that my transmittance to the youth was as a medium between what appears to be more transfixing than actually so. It was found that the results were rewarding, in me having been able to see how much a difference the presentation of knowledge makes in matters of retention. Read More

I taught my first students around 1993 back in my homeland, Greece. Since then, I taught several instruments such as piano, guitar, mandolin, ukelele, Greek bouzouki, ud and Greek Lute. In my teaching, I always combine elements, from any musical style I have taught to strengthen my teaching skills and help students achieve their best. I believe in a good balance between studying theory and practicing technique and music. Theory reveals the secrets of music. Read More
