I have been teaching (private and institutions) and performing for over 20 years. My extensive touring and professional performing background offers students a real-world perspective and continually keeps students motivated and inspired. There are moments that I look back and think how amazing is that students start from scratch and now they are able to create music on their favorite musical instrument. Technical development is always an essential element in my teaching but the ultimate goal is to help the students to feel and express music to the very extent their abilities. Often, I focus on the particular struggles a student may go through and I am trying to help them overcome the obstacle that may prevent them to enjoy the music they play. Read More

In lessons, I pride myself on a proper balance of positive encouragement and personal accountability. Read More

For beginning students I use Faber and John Thompson books. Once the student improves of course we upgrade to more challenging songs and books. For adults I find out what they're interested in and instruct accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and always fun no matter what. I base my teaching method on my strong, enthusiastic, optimistic, patient, and loving character. I make sure the student feels comfortable, is not overwhelmed by the material, and I take any amount of time until the material is thoroughly understood. Read More

My teaching experience started at age 12 with Alesia Byrd Johnson. I worked with toddlers and as they aged I would continue in their classes while adding the next group of children. Since then I have taught private lessons in homes, studios, private schools, and after graduating from Michigan State University- I taught public school orchestra, band, and choir from Prek-12 in Michigan and then Georgia. I also was in charge of helping students with their Individualized Education Plans, IEP's, in Georgia. Read More
