My teaching style consists of helping students view the reward found in developing the musical talents and gifts some of us possess. I do not necessarily believe practice makes you perfect, however i do believe practice makes you better; as will that same practice make evident of what your tendencies of studying are. My philosophy is nobody is ever too young or old to learn to play the piano. When you start from the rear, you just have to run twice as fast. Read More

I absolutely love teaching the piano. I've taught kindergarten level students all the way up to 72 year olds. I've been teaching the piano for 7 years. During this time I've taught over 271 students how to play the piano, and over 500 students music theory. It's my goal to make sure that you reach the level of success on the piano that you desire. In fact, it was for this purpose that I was hired by a music school. Read More

I create a hands on curriculum based on the students musical proficiency. Alongside this structured lesson plan, every student will receive training on proper practicing techniques which help build their sense of guidance, responsibility, and structure. Students will also receive training for embouchure and tone development as well as warm up etudes that cater to the students skill level. Music theory and terms will be infused within the lesson plans to ensure my student's proper use of signs and symbols. Read More

I have the most Experience using the following Method Books: Standard of Excellence, Essential Elements, Accent on Achievement, Instrumental Methods and many other methods. Initially (and throughout) I place a high value on performance fundamentals. I start with a focus on proper posture and breathing. Once this can be executed I breakdown the nomenclature of the student's instrument, how to put it together and break it down. Next the focus becomes proper grip for mallets/sticks and embouchure placement for winds. Read More

Music has and is still a huge part of my life. It's one of two things that I feel is worth pursuing no matter the cost. I started my musical journey at the age of 8 playing drums. By the age of 16 I started playing piano/keyboard in church and learned by ear. At Marquette University and The Institute of Production and Recording I earned A's in all my music theory classes. I am a dedicated and inspiring instructor from the New Orleans/South Mississippi area. In addition to absorbing the great feel and culture of New Orleans and its music, I studied with many great drum set artists including the legendary Alan Dawson (3 years), Henrique De Almeida (Berklee Staff), Dave DiCenso (Berklee Staff), and Ricky Sebastian (Drummers Collective). I am a professional touring drummer who works with Grammy Artist Chris Thomas King, New Orleans Brass Band Bonerama, Mississippi Blues Ambassador Vasti Jackson, and the Atlanta-based Lefty Williams Band. My teaching style is for my students to succeed. Since I have an Administrators degree and have concentrated on many Healthcare/Science classes regarding disabilities, I can tailor my lessons to students who may be dyslexic or have ADHD. Some students are visual learners, where others respond more to sound. I also encourage students to develop their ears as this enables them early on to be able to recognize notes and to play without music. Read More
