For beginning students who are children, I typically begin with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements; as well as other, more auditory practices that do not require a book. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce other solo repertoire pieces that I feel the student is ready for, and assist in musical execution for future recitals. I hope all my students will become well-known instrumentalists in the future, but I set realistic weekly goals for my students. I design the curriculum according to the student's level and progress, and I highly encourage daily practice even though it could be a challenge. Acknowledging the progress and accomplishments while pointing out the places to improve on will help and motivate students to learn more. He placed third in the 2019 National Trumpet Competition Jazz Division and placed as a semifinalist in the small classical ensemble division. I performed at venues and festivals including Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, BBC Radio Foyle, Ulster Hall, Panama Jazz Festival, Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the San Jose Jazz Festival.
