I am enthusiastic about sharing all that I have learned with future students. I have given many different solo and collaborative performances all over the eastern United States. In the collaborative field, I have accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists. I have been the principal pianist in various orchestras and have performed piano in many different ensembles that championed traditional and contemporary works. I have been experiencing the love of playing and performing music for 40 years and still find it challenging to this day. Music is a journey of the senses which can open and expand our minds.For the first 11 years of my musical journey, I journeyed hours and hours in the discovery of the rhythms, notes and expression but I journeyed in solitude.What a wonderful joy wasawaiting me when I discovered how much fun it was to make music as part of an ensemble or as I like to think of it, a team.A musical team can be a band, an orchestra, a chorus, a churchchoir,a quartet, ora duet, and in all cases it is exhilarating to make music with other people.I hope that I can guide and encourage my students to learn to enjoy this journey that can provide a life time of adventure, social interaction and creativity. My teaching experience has taught me that every student is different, and require different approaches. I have been teaching since the year 2000, where I have encouraged each student to practice. I also understand that learning piano can get repetitive therefore, my technique is to start with theory, and then to add playing by ear as well as reading the notes. At the first lesson is just seeing where they are and what kind of music they would want to play(hymnal songs, gospel songs, soundtracks, opera, classical etc). Then at the beginning of each lesson would be theory(note recognition, counting, fingering etc). Then review on what they practiced for the week and if they are confident with the pieces add a few more songs. At Christmas time and the end of spring I like to have to have a recital for the students to play a few of the songs they learned for their friends and family.  Read More
