I have been playing the piano for 10 years, but have been involved in the musical institution for much longer than that. I have been shaping minds young and old in piano technique and music theory for the last seven years. And, I believe I am an ideal teacher for anyone just starting out to those who are trying to continue from where they left off. I have been afforded the pleasure of performing in many of my University's recitals and concerts as a solo pianist and ensemble piece. Read More

Each student learns at their own pace, therefore goals are set individually for each student. Students need to have a passion for learning music, therefore I try to create a fun, patient environment in order for children to learn. I believe in setting goals and acknowledging when an accomplishment is made to reinforce the desire to learn. Regular practice is encouraged and incentivized if needed because practice is a necessary habit in learning and furthering development. Read More

I believe communication is of the upmost importance. I communicate with parents to let them know how the student is doing, what we are working on, and what to do next. For example, one student of the same age may understand sheet music quickly, but have a hard time with scales. Read More

My musical experiences started at church in the 80's when I discovered that I could sing really high notes imitating Christian artists like Sandy Patty and the late puertorican soprano Yolanda Vadiz. Those experiences motivated me to consider studying music seriously not just like another hobby. I started studying voice techniques at the age of 20 at the Sacred Music Institute in the Methodist Church in Hato Rey, PR. There I took classes with tenor Jose Torres and baritone Rafael Cotto who prepared me for the audition at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. Read More

The biggest joy in teaching and working with students is seeing them develop a passion and love for music. My teaching experience is very hands on and I love to model everything that I teach. It's important for my students to progress at his or her own pace and I encourage this by setting goals for my students at each lesson. Positive reinforcement goes such a long way and I love letting my students know when they are making progress or accomplish something. Read More

I started teaching guitar lessons in 1999 (20 years this year!) Since those days I've gotten two degrees and taught at colleges, and private institutions, as well as high school and middle schools. I've found that combining textbook music instruction along with learning to play some of the music the student is listening to keeps them growing and engaged. Most importantly it makes learning music fun! I love jazz and I encourage efforts of composition and improvisation to help the student take ownership of the notes they're learning. Read More
