for beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard books. This communicates the basics of the instrument very well. I also incorporate scales and chords. After the student develops his or her reading, kinesthetic, technique, and ear I give them a standard classical piece. For Adults, I evaluate their level and goals at the lesson.
