I like to divide my lessons into three different parts the first part would be a warm up in wish we get ready all the necessary muscles involved in playing the instrument with exercises that would develop dexterity and coordination simultaneously, the second part of how to listen is based on learning a basic piece of music that is guaranteed to develop the basic skills to perform something that they are interested on, on the cliff part of the lesson is to choose a song that the student wants to learn and analyze it apply what we learned by playing the basic peace and the warm ups. We will also incorporate the study of fundamental music theory and sight reading I give each student material to read on technique and terms, along with sheet music and recordings. Every voice student will take home a recording of vocal exercises with which to practice at home, and later, when sight-singing is mastered, the student will begin reading from the Vaccai vocalise book. Students will be able to choose any genre or style of music on which to work, but will also be given assigned pieces to study for the purpose of fundamental technical studies. Read More

I continue to develop my skills as a musician in a very goal-oriented manner so I like to utilize that aspect of learning with my teaching. Learning an instrument can take a lot of practice and at times can seem like you don't even see a flicker of light at the end of a tunnel. Because of this, I find it very effective to keep focusing on daily, weekly and monthly goals. Read More

For very young piano/keyboard students, lessons go more smoothly if they know right hand and left hand, count to 10 and know ABC's. They learn to read music almost immediately, and I give them the tools to be able to pick up any piece of music and play it independently. Regular performance opportunities are provided to show off acquired skills and progress of students and application of knowledge is encouraged through original composition. Read More

My process is based on (but does not adhere strictly to) the Classical approach to Western tonal harmony and asks that the students develop certain fundamentals of technique and theory. In my experience, this structure creates the strongest foundation for pupils to build the rest of their musical lives on, whether professionally or solely for personal enjoyment. All of my students are on the fast track to studying music theory. Read More

Each student is unique so I start out with seeing where they are and we go from there. If I have a student that is needing more help than usual I will help the student understand things in a way that is helpful for them. Students that have more experience, I use some of the method books that most school use such as Essential Elements for Band, Rubank method books, as well as new material customized for students. I love to help my students expand thier talents, and develop their confidence and their own sense of musical authority. Composition is my main forte', but i also believe that theory and technique are important as they provide a musician with a broader pallet to draw from when creating original thier works. Read More
