The method I begin with depends on what the student responds to best. I first try to show them how enjoyable music is and how they can share it with family members and friends, including popular and holiday music and songs they may sing at church. Some students even like simplified jazz. I start holiday music in October and enjoy knowing how much their parents enjoy hearing and singing it. Read More

I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a teacher. I have spent the last seventeen years working with children of all ages and sharing my love of music as a classroom music teacher and private piano teacher. I am passionate about connecting with the children I teach. I love watching them smile and grow up into such amazing human beings. I am also passionate about music. Read More

My teaching approach begins by meeting the students where they are in regards to musical capability. We soon push the boundaries of what they think they are capable of and allows them to apply the music theory in real time. A consistent schedule, whether it be during our schedule lesson or a follow up email packet, is the distinctive difference in my lesson plans. This practice regimen should continue long after our scheduled lessons and should be one of many vital keys to your child's future successes. Read More

My name is Quinson and I love teaching the piano. It is my aim to help all my students to be extraordinary regardless of whether or not they've played the piano before, I want to make my students' dreams come true. I've taught over 271 students how to play the piano, and over 500 students music theory. Read More

Solos and etudes allow the student to train his/her musical skill, and I assign them to give the student a chance to make the music his/her own creation. Finally, I love the opportunity to play duets with my students to give them a chance to make music together in a fun, no-pressure environment. For piano, I typically teach through the Faber method, although I observe how the student progresses to see if an alternative method may be more effective. Read More

For pianists, there are so many different method books, I recommend for beginners Faber Method Series for younger beginners, for adult beginners we can start with Alfred's All in One Method for Adult Beginners. I have used Alfred's Series, Piano Adventures, John Thompson's Series, Bastien Series, Playtime Piano Series (also Faber). For more intermediate students I would use books that are a collection of different types of baroque and classical pieces, and First Lessons In Bach, and for more advanced students solos and concerti from composers such as Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, LIszt, etc. Read More

For beginners on guitar and piano, I start by introducing a basic understanding of music theory, so the students are comfortable with the fundamental mappings of notes and intervals. From there, I teach chords, scales, rhythms and song composition. I work with my students based on their individual musical preferences and desires -- whether you want to learn how to play your favorite songs, how to write your own songs, or how to play lead lines and solos, I'm here to support and nurture your craft!
