I will start with basic books that teach you the bare fundamentals of music, the notes, fingering, etc. If you already know the basics we will go into a more advanced teaching plan. Depending on your skill level and what you want to accomplish in terms of style and technique I will base my lesson plan accordingly. I will base what I teach you according to your musical influences, passions, styles you want to learn, and who you would like to become as a musician overall. Read More

I have been teaching music for about five years now. As soon as I started teaching myself music theory concepts and sharing them with my friends, I knew that teaching was something that I wanted to do for the rest of my life! Music means a lot to me as I'm sure it does to you. I love being able to time travel through different emotions and sounds, and the guitar has allowed me to do that! Read More

My general course of action for students is to teach the essentials through the Faber book series. As well as learn songs and do theory/aural exercises from the Faber books, I like to use online music theory games for my students to practice skills like note identification. I also like to assign students songs outside from the Faber books that they know and love, to further fuel their passion for learning piano! Read More

I usually use Alfred Basic Piano Library Book 1 for beginning young students and Alfred's All-In-One Course for beginning adults. I will combine piano playing and music theory in my teaching. During the lessons, I start with scales, technical exercise, and then solo repertoire. For weekly assignment, I might give my students 1-2 solo repertoire, scales, and technical exercise depends on there level. Also, I often adjust my teaching methods to students' needs. Read More

I firmly believe a solid foundation is the key to success. And that is why, I have spent the past 15 years (and counting) developing and hand-crafting a SIMPLE, EASY-TO-FOLLOW, STEP-BY-STEP approach to learning piano, designed to get students playing songs on their own, often times within a matter of a few short months. The process can sometimes be a bit slower in the beginning, but often leads to more long term, ongoing success. Read More

My methods are different for every student, but I always start with fundamentals. This includes scales, exercises to improve sound and intonation, reading, writing, improvisation, and most importantly listening. Depending on the path the student choses, some areas will be focused on more than others. I will often introduce more advanced concepts early if the student displays interest in them. I am not the kind of instructor who will say "play your etudes first and then we can talk about improvisation." I almost quit shortly after I started music because I had an instructor with that outlook. Read More
