For a typical beginner, I will first teach posture and note identification followed by basic warm-ups. Once the basics are taught, the student will be allowed more flexibility in the repertoire and specific skills he/she wants to learn. I like to encourage creativity in the studio; I don't push every student to have the same musical experiences.
