For those who are beginning on their horns, I will be using the Essential Elements book. Within this books starts off with the basic whole notes and half notes than moves to quarter notes. Every other page adds a new note to their repertoire. For those who have been on their horns, I will be using the 2nd/3rd Essential Elements book. My studio of aspiring musicians of all ages strives for the motto I came up with as an alternative to the popular, yet technically impossible and anxiety-inducing Practice Makes Perfect. I am a dedicated professional singer in the DC Metro area, and I operate Hannahs Music Studio as a way to share what I have learned through my many years of music studies and performances. I have had the opportunity of performing multiple operatic roles in Italy and San Marino, as well as during my Bachelor of Arts in Music degree for Vocal Performance at Luther College (2017), and during my Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Opera at the University of North Texas (2019). For beginners who are children, I typically use Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures. One of my biggest goals while teaching is to provide my students with a well-rounded music education. From my experience, the Piano Adventures series aligns well this goal while providing engaging, fun material for children. After completing a series of method books, I start to focus on classical repertoire. While I believe classical repertoire is the best way to build piano technique, musicianship, and musical knowledge, I love including other genres depending on the student's interest. Read More

Regardless of which direction the student wishes to take their musical development, a foundation of classical training is mandatory. I teach classical piano and flute but have opened up the lessons to include pop, rock and jazz on occasion. I am patient yet strict. My teaching experience really started With the DC Youth Orchestra Program as a cellist. Assisting the cello teaches with summer sessions. I also assisted at NC A T State University Orchestra. I mentored student teachers with string ensemble. Currently, I am Assistant to the Minister of Music at The Greater First Baptist Church of Washington DC. There my duties vary, from preparing the choir (teaching), playing piano and pipe organ; assist with the selecting of music for morning service; staging musicial presentations. Read More
