Although I am trained classically in piano and voice, I also like to work at a variety of genres as well as learn other instruments. I’ve performed concerts across the state for competitions, festivals and outreach recitals. I started teaching music in college through my babysitting network. When the mothers and fathers of the children I cared for found out that I played piano and woodwinds, many of them asked if I would also give their kids private lessons. Having a knack with kids and with music, my music teaching practice quickly blossomed in that small town. I have found that while it's important to keep kids sharp in their ability to read music on the page, it is at least as important to engage their creativity off the page. Read More

My studio stands out because I teach students of all ages. I have experience working with children as young as four years old. It is often difficult to find teachers who are willing to work with musicians at such a young age, so I make that a staple of my practice. I also stand out because I focus specifically pedagogy. Pedagogy is the studying of teaching, so for the last several years it has been my priority to learn all of the techniques in teaching and to apply those methods when working with my students. For me, nothing is more rewarding, than to see my students follow and pursue their dreams. I believe that all students are able to carry their dreams out to the fullest as long as they put a little hard work and dedication. I enjoy bringing this to the classroom because it shows my students they are able to do anything that they put their heart and soul into.
