I have recently learned bass guitar as well. I encourage students to practice at least 20-30 minutes a day because even that little amount of time makes all the difference. I also love to incorporate creativity in my lessons with songwriting and improvisation. I also encourage students to participate in recitals as well. I like to mix technique with songs and styles of music the student is interested in so they get a full understanding of why technique is important and how it applies to songs and musical selections that are of interest to the student. Lou has worked as a jazz and pop pianist/keyboard player and teacher for over 30 years. In addition, he was a music teacher in the School District of Philadelphia. He studied with numerous jazz and classical teachers, including Jimmy Giuffre, Roland Hanna, and Frank Wigglesworth.
