I am a piano/music teacher with extensive experience of over 45 years. I have been trained as a concert pianist and teacher in Europe and the USA, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts from Temple University in Philadelphia.  I have over 40 years’ experience as a concert pianist with orchestras, solo recitals, chamber music, and accompaniment, and my extensive training both as a pianist and teacher enables me to teach my students the piano music from Bach to the present.  In my teaching, I focus on the student's needs, ability, talent, and personality and strive to develop his/her potential for excellence.  Also, I emphasize the enjoyment of music and share the beautiful richness of the great music composed in different periods. I began giving private guitar instruction towards the end of my college studies, and after graduation taught group and private lessons at a music school. At that school I taught a vast range of ages, skill levels, and instruments, from 4 year old beginners, to teenage experts, to adults who needed a brush-up. My methods depend heavily on the age of the student and the level of student I am working with. An example would be the beginner level. For beginning students, I first focus on helping them understand their range (i.e. bass, tenor, alto, soprano) and important fundamentals of singing (i.e. loose jaw, full use of our body as support for our voice, relaxed tongue, proper breath support with the diaphragm, expansion of the ribs, proper body posture, etc). I enjoy tailoring my lesson plans and materials for each individual student. For beginning students, a like to start with a beginning method book tailored to the student's interests. I find that learning and memorizing songs and simple repertoire is an effective way for beginning and intermediate students to advance, and that following students interest goes a long way for the learning process!
