I had my own piano studio for 5 years and I used to hold annual recital. I took a break of teaching due to relocation. I am passionate about teaching kids piano (mostly classical and a little pops) to keep them engaged. I do request consistent practice of more than 30 minutes a week for young students. It help to establish routine for them to be successful later in piano. If a students need more help, I do recommend a longer lesson (45 minutes) or twice a week lesson. Read More

My methods differ for each instrument. For piano I will start with Alfred's basic piano course if the student is a beginner. It helps students visualize the basic techniques for sitting and playing the piano in a way that will prevent injury. From there we walk through the book until the student understands how the keys and reading music works. After this, I start to assign different songs and/or assignments that match the student's learning style and interest in music. Read More

It is wonderful book to quickly get students of all ages moving toward proficiency. Once the student has reached a comfortable level of confidence, I introduce Charles Duncan’s follow up book, Classical Guitar Repertoire: A Graded Anthology of Solo Pieces. It’s a great start for the fledgling soloist. For intermediate and advance I use a wide variety of methods. For Intermediate players, I typically use book 2 of the Charles Duncan's A Modern Approach to Classical Guitar and the companion solo book. Read More
