Overview:
Since the age of 11, Anna Kate has held a tremendous passion for classical flute. It was her junior year of high school when she decided to pursue a career in music and started her journey by joining the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra, which toured in France, performing at large concerts in various cities. Subsequently she was accepted to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts High School to further advance her studies in flute, requiring extensive time commitments of practicing five plus hours per day. From there, her music career quickly blossomed and just two years later at the age of nineteen, she found herself in the beautiful city of Boston, studying classical flute performance at the renowned Berklee College of Music. In pursuit of further enrichment, Anna Kate transferred to the Boston Conservatory two years later. The mentors she’s practiced under throughout her years are highly-regarded and sought after in the community, to name a few: Patricia Surman, Wendy Rolfe, Katherine Kemler, Mihi Kim of France, Heather Yarmel, and Ann Bobo of the Boston Pops. Her high standards towards her studies fuels her desire to constantly learn, perfect this art and most importantly, help others recognize the immense beauty this instrument encompasses and exudes.
EXPERIENCE
I enjoy building relationships with my students and making them feel comfortable. I love seeing my students achieve goals and confidence. I have a strong background in classical music/flute performance. I've studied in France with one of the best flutists and continue to study with her online. I take my work seriously and always have fun! I focus on positive reinforcement and motivate my students to be their best selves. I've been teaching since 2014 at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
METHODS USED
For Beginners, I focus on music theory and the most important steps of caring for your flute. Then we branch into tone, technique, and rhythm. For my intermediate students, we start by using Taffanel and Gaubert Grand Exercises for technique. I also require my students to have Trevor Wye books for tone and technique. These will be a staple in the practice room and throughout your studies with the flute. For my advanced players, we will work on college auditions, flute repertoire, and always technique/tone.
LESSON STYLE
Developing a passion for music and having the confidence to perform is why I love my job. I love seeing my students achieve goals. I believe setting goals and accomplishing them are important, so I support my students until the end. Being able to perform and having the ability to capture an audience, first starts with the performer. I believe gaining confidence through an instrument is possible. I encourage students to tell me their goals and dreams so I can do my best to allow them to come true.

I would highly recommend Anna as a flute teacher! She is nice and eager to answer questions (and I ask A LOT of questions). She is good at explaining things too and very patient.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
