I first began teaching music in 2006 as the trumpet instructor at Silver Creek Central School where I directed trumpet master classes for high school students.I later took on various private students teaching trumpet, guitar, electric bass, improvisation, and arrangement composition.While earning my Master of Music at the University of the Arts, I served as the trumpet department intern and was responsible for teaching private trumpet lessons, preparing transcriptions for class materials and live performances, and proctoring music theory exams.Also at UArts, I was a teaching assistant for the Freshman Jazz Improvisation class for which I conducted sectionals, administered exams, and offered critiques regarding inventiveness of improvisations. I instructed beginning students as well as advanced 8th graders in all brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Each success is worth celebrating and the way to get there is by setting realistic goals. I always offer yearly recitals for any students who would enjoy being a part of them. Piano:  I have played piano since I was 7 .  I have been teaching piano privately for the past 5-10 years in my home or in a studio.   I encourage students to learn to read music well and also learn about the composer and the musical intentions behind each piece. These classes provide an excellent foundation for learning piano. A fun, written theory workbook will be introduced. I throughly enjoy making music. I started taking piano lessons when I was 5 years old and continued taking all the way through graduate school at TCU, where I graduated in 2016. Playing solo and collaborating with fellow musicians are still some of my favorite pass times. I enjoy playing all kinds of genres: Classical, pop, worship, Bossa Nova. Some of my most memorable experiences have been collaborative. From playing piano duets in grade school, singing in church choir, to accompanying in semi-professional competitions, like the Young Texas Artists Competition, I find performing with others is fun and exciting. I stay flexible to the individual students' needs. I try to keep the student engaged and ask many questions to help them become their own best teacher. I will give assignments and create goals but also want the student to be self motivated. I will not be overly strict when it comes to practice.
