For beginning students, particularly children, I use the Piano Adventures books. I recommend the student getting their Lesson, Theory, and Technique Artistry books to start. From there I will add in popular and classical pieces based on the students interest and ability. I do almost the same for teens and adults, just using the Piano Adventures adult books. To me, the student's journey ALWAYS comes first, and I believe that is why I have been able to have been teaching for 20 years. I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. For piano instruction, I prefer the Faber Piano Method Books, as they are tailored to the students' individual needs. Read More

I enjoy teaching all ability levels, and different genres of music. I believe that my students are the ones who motivate me to be a better teacher. If they don't enjoy what I am teaching them and aren't learning something new, then I am not doing my job properly and am also not enjoying myself.
