With the beginning students I use Alfred and Bastien piano instructional books. Also, the children simultaneously learn to read notes and understand music notation. In my teaching method the goal is to combine high level of technique with musicality and individual interpretation. The beginners’ lessons are systematized as a successful blend of fun musical games and new academic material, thus learning new is fun and inspiring. In teaching adults, after they are comfortable with the basics, they can play songs in the genre they prefer - classical, pop or jazz. Read More

What I like to do in my studio is, set realistic goals for the student. I use "challenges" to help students achieve their goals. And reward them when they achieve them. I like using a lot of games as well to make piano learning fun. So I teach a lot of theory aspects using games with timers, and flash cards, dry erase dices and prizes when goals are meant. Some of my student favorites are the 30 piece challenge, Karate Scale challenge, speedy finger challenge and much more. Read More

My style is open minded. I first try to know the students' goals and prepare a course of action accordingly. Then I try to know how much the students already knows and how much talent they have. That allows me to determine how fast I may go with them or how much I must drill and develop a particular skill before going on. Sometimes if I assess the student is jammed or stressed I deem it necessary to digress a bit into music history , philosophy and other fields related to music that work as a refreshing background and point of rebound to the skill part of the lesson while increase the scholarly knowledge of the student. I started teaching during my days at the Conservatory, as it was required in the study program. I graduated as a performer and educator in classical and Afro-Cuban percussion, with the piano as a complementary instrument. Teaching has always been an important and constant part of my career, since I have always viewed teaching as a learning tool. I came to realize that the process of constantly finding new ways to make the students understand and interiorize something, was of great benefit to myself. Read More
