I am currently a graduate student studying Musicology at Rutgers University. My musical journey has been continuous ever since singing for the first time in my home church's youth choir. I will then begin to work into fingering,picking,chords and other basic elements. Beginners are also instructed on the foundation of all music which is melody,harmony and rythym. For the more advanced student I find, most want to know more about technique, finding their own sound, theory and a more advanced knowledge of how to increase their abilities on guitar. I evaluate the students natural and practiced skills and build from there using a variety of techniques that I have used myself to learn the guitar on an advanced level I create my own lessons plans based on the student. I believe each student is unique, and aim to help the student fall deeper in love with the guitar by meeting them where they are at with their own interests and desires with the instrument. I have had multiple different instructors throughout my life, and some of them seem to have had their own agenda and what they wanted me to be learning. I have been teaching privately since 2010, when I accepted a position as a teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University. My responsibilities included teaching private lessons to undergraduate percussion majors and coaching percussion ensembles. I also began teaching students from middle school through high school age around the same time, and my students have since included those of adult age. I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels of experience, as they all bring something unique to their lessons and allow me to bring out aspects of my personality that will engage them best.
