I received my B.M.E. in Music Education from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama, where I co-founded Steel Tuba/Euphonium Quartet. I received myM.M. in Euphonium Performance from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. There I was a member of the award winning Alabama Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble and the Alabama Wind Ensemble. It can vary; either Bastien, John Thompson, Alfred Publishing, Hal Leonard or any other I find appropriate. In a beginners face I explain notation values, names, posture and what affects their learning. Depending on the age of the student I decide if the material is suitable for their capacity of learning. With every student, no matter the age, I like to get an idea of their goals intended, or help them develop goals along the way. Everyone wants to play music for different reasons, and I like to keep that in mind for each student. However, regardless of the goal, my philosophy is to empower each student to discover their sound and voice on their instrument. Back when I was in Venezuela, I was playing in my city's orchestra the entire time from 2002 to 2018. In that orchestra, which is a part of the renowned "El Sistema". El Sistema is a system that helps underserved communities get the music knowledge they would otherwise not be able to get. We had different levels of orchestras, from beginners to advanced.
