I am a fast paced, energetic, positive-reinforcement kind of teacher. I like lessons to be fun and productive no matter the ability level. It is my belief that EVERYONE can sing, you just have to practice. A typical lesson involves a 10-15 minute warm-up, depending on the length of the lesson. That is followed by working on the songs that a student has prepared for the week. I like to work on a variety of songs to prevent boredom and frustration if a song is proving to be difficult on a particular day. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students develop a passion for music! Its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals at each lesson and by pointing out and acknowledging growth and success that each student has. By engaging in what inspires a student I tailor my instruction to their interests and needs. Read More

I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Music Education from Wartburg College in 2004. I then moved to Wisconsin where I was a middle school and high school choir director for seven years. There I taught chorus, private and group voice lessons, piano class, general music class, and also organized the middle school talent show. I later moved on to Hawaii where I taught private voice and piano lessons through Musikgarten Hawaii. Read More

I began teaching about five years ago. I mostly have taught younger students, and I love to watch them learn and develop a passion for music. I like to look for fun ways to keep students motivated. I like to use lots of humor while I teach because I think learning should be fun, and music is an amazing art. I work with people of all ages on my worship team, and I love helping both people young and old continue to grow their knowledge and love of music. Read More

It’s important to me that a student has fun in their lessons, but also accomplishes the goals set at the beginning. I start the lesson explaining what we should try to accomplish by the next lesson, followed by a recap of the last one. Goals should be reasonable enough that the student doesn’t feel overwhelmed, particularly at the beginning, yet challenging enough that they feel like they actually achieve something worthwhile each week. Music is my life! I was raised in a family band and have been performing my entire life. I went to a little high school in a little town in Idaho and I am in my last semester of my bachelors degree for Music at Northwest Nazarene University. I have performed all over the northwest and have been on countless tours with the college groups. I am a very outgoing person and I try to be happy everyday. Read More
