As I gained reputation, I started teaching students privately and now have experience working with over 20 different kinds of middle and high school students. I am able to explain the world of music to lots of kind of brain types! I knew teaching was for me when I hit 9th grade and taught at the middle school, there was nothing more that gave me as much join and happiness than teaching music, especially flute! Read More

My teaching experience stems from 5 years ago, where I would share whatever knowledge of music i could with those around me. In those five years I have made it my duty to make myself a resource to all musicians around me. I believe that consistent practice, and lessons is the key to success with music. More importantly I in making music a healthy outlet for emotion, and self expression. Read More

Instruments: Voice

The voice is the most personal of all instruments. No matter what level or age you are, singing is a powerful way to portray emotions and stories. I love tailoring each lesson for each student to ensure that they are enjoying themselves and acheiving their goals in a healthy way. I work very closely with my students to give them the freedom to sing the pieces they are interested in while also offering repertoire that challenges and encourages vocal growth. Read More

Firstly, I believe that laughter is important. It helps students relax and enjoy themselves, and it perfectly engages the muscles needed for support. I try to maintain a teaching atmosphere where laughter is possible. I also believe that the student essentially teaches themselves to sing- I diagnose and provide input. I can take a more hands on approach for less experienced singers, but ultimately, nothing is going to stick if the student is not consiously engaged. (For younger students, there is more emphasis on fun and making noise than on specific technique) Read More

My philosophy for quality music education has three main parts: appreciation, practice, literacy. In no particular order... 1. The first part is exposure/appreciation of different musics, cultures and styles: The loving of music This includes: Active listening skills, genre playlists, history of solo repertoire/composers 2. The second part is the practice/performance of music, instruments, and vocally: The doing of music This includes: Physically clapping rhythms, singing, playing, performing, improvising 3. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet

I believe that it's best to learn by example, and in music this is often by demonstrating with the instrument. I will always have my instrument out to play along, or demonstrate what I am expecting. I expect my students to practice what is assigned to them so we can both have a productive session with each other, however I do understand that life happens. I try different techniques throughout the lesson to ensure that what I'm teaching is resonating with the student. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
