I use method books by Hal Leonard and Bryan Johanson to begin with, along with exercises from pumping nylon. Once we get to a point where we can read fairly fluently, we begin repertoire work from Canada's Royal Conservatory. I also use chord charts to begin learning how to play as well, as most students like to learn chords to play pop or folk tunes in the meantime as they're learning the fundamentals. Read More

My teaching experience began in 2010, I have taught children from the age of six to eighteen, beginners to advanced players. I liked to focus on developing: 1) Right relaxed hand/fingers 2 ) Playing with separate hands (to master non legato and then legato 3) To master how to produce beautiful tones and intonation by touching keys 4) Experience different styles of music (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern) Read More

Ever since a child, I've loved learning, music and sharing my passions! Through grade school I grew into the role of a leader and a musical/visual artist. In 2018 I graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelors in K-12 Music Education with a minor in Spanish. My years of teaching grade school has reaffirmed my passion for teaching, and drive to be the best teacher I can. I've also been a composer/arranger for decades, including doing works on commission as well as having the joy of getting my music performed. Read More

My first student in 2002 was 13 years old. Ever since then I’ve taught students ranging in age from 10 to 43. Most of the students studied drum kit with several showing interest in hand drums. The styles I’ve taught included Rock, Funk, Latin, Jazz, and Reggae. I always encourage my students to explore other styles of music. While my students are learning how to play they also benefit from studying music notation and theory. Read More

Simple breathing techniques, Hal Leonard's Vocal Warmups, is a good book I use for beginners levelsand other techniques will be taught to my beginners. We will discuss each student's goals and what they hope to accomplish in their classes. I will ask each student to sing a couple of notes and songs that I have prepared in order to assess their vocal range (alto, soprano, etc.). With the song of your choice, we will go over tone, vowel placements, translations, and performance enhancers (supporting additional sound, staging, etc.) to make the song your own and better than you have performed before. I approach each student based on his or her background and what he or she needs from me. It is important to adequately instruct the student and make sure he or she is properly disciplined, but one cannot be too involved in the student's playing. One has to learn to let the students learn to be independent and properly pick up on the necessary techniques and methods on their own. Read More

My teaching experience began in 2013, whilst attending university. Since then I have taught private lessons in students' homes and at studios on a part time basis. My emphasis with students begins with two things: creating a practice routine, and building fundamental singing techniques to create bodily awareness. From a place of bodily awareness and vocal control, students of all ages and musical interests are able to sing a wider array of music with greater success and satisfaction. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
