I began teaching piano my sophomore year of college. During my college career, I built up a studio of nearly 20 students, tutored college-level piano courses, and worked as a Teacher's Assistant in Sight Singing and Aural Training. Since then, I taught for two years at a Summer Music Conservatory in Texas, led week-long keyboard intensive seminars throughout Western Kenya, and most recently, taught at the nation's largest piano conservatory. My teaching career started in 1994 at Herald J Keller Elementary School while a graduate student at Loyola University. Itaught trumpet lessons, general music courses and directed the childrens choral groups. I went on to teach high school as the Band Director at Walter L. Colhen High School in 1998 and continued to teach trumpet lessons. My family and I moved to Lexington Kentucky in 2005 where Icontinueto perform and teach trumpet lessons locally. Read More

I strive to set realistic goals and encourage my students to set realistic goals for themselves! This gives them an eagerness to learn because it is within their grasp. For example, If someone has a goal to be on american idol one day, I will have him/ her set a smaller goal to get there such as breath support or intonation. He is currently working as the Marketing Director for the Gospel Music Workshop of America Inc., Lexington Metro Chapter and has previously worked for the Student National Association of Teacher of Singing – University of Kentucky as their Marketing Director, and The Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center as their Community Outreach Coordinator Intern where he was a key member in the administration of the Lyric Theatre Youth Summer Program. He is also the Founder and former Co-Director of the University of Kentucky Spiritual Ensemble, and former Assistant Director for the West Louisville Boys Choir as well as the former Director for the West Louisville Treble Choir at the West Louisville Performing Arts Academy. Because I feel music is more of an expression before it is a discipline, I am a strong believer in giving tools of discipline as they are needed, rather than forcing a student into a rigor just because it worked for a different student with a different personality.
