I studied percussion under Dr. Koontz at Eastern Kentucky University, where I learned to play all sorts of different styles ranging from classical to global. I performed with Eastern Kentucky University's percussion ensemble on various instruments ranging from vibes to marimba, concert snare, and even pan. Soon after, I auditioned for a World Class Indoor Percussion ensemble in Lexington, Kentucky, where I grew exponentially under the tutelage of world-famous instructors such as Nick Angelis and Zach Schlicher. I began teaching percussion immediately after high school. While attending EKU, I helped my former high school by teaching the percussion section during the marching band season. I taught the section every year for about 12 years before being hired as a full-time teacher and becoming the assistant director of the band. I still mainly focus on the percussion section every year, but my responsibilities have spread to assisting with other sections of the band as well. Read More

Honesty to oneself and being able accurately represent that in a musical form does, so my teaching style has become a search to find what the student wants to say through music and do whatever I can do to give them the necessary tools to bring it out of themselves. I make sure that each student has at least one goal for each lesson and I make sure to acknowledge their accomplishments. I am about as laid back as you can be. Learning this instrument should be fun, since that is the level of commitment that most of us have. We lead busy lives as students, moms, dads, and caregivers. There is always something on the plate. I will make this fun, keep you interested, and make progress all at the same time. I will be teaching my student the components of the bass guitar, the components of songs, how they are written, how each instrument plays it's part in the construction of the song. Read More

For beginning students I select special lessons. I am careful to choose the appropriate music for each age. if there is a child, for me is very important the relationship with the parents, because they know a lot of goals from the child. For adults the communication is the fundamental thing, each have own aspirations. The topic for teach my students will be my passion. The limits and barriers to learning, will have for each case solutions, taking care of the aspirations and needs of each person. Read More
