I currently teach at a Charter School in Newark, NJ. I have taught private saxophone and trumpet lessons since I was in high school. Practicing on a regular schedule is the best way for young students to improve, as well as older students to continue to perfect their technique. For young children, I start with the use of their 10 fingers. We do finger exercises using Middle C as the center and exercise the fingers in up and down playing at the piano. I use the Faber method of study which is fantastic, is graded, introduces all kinds of pieces and a lot of theory. It is a very interesting course and my students do very well using it. I was teaching children age from 8-14 at Municipal Higher Education Establishment of Choreographic Arts and also give private vocal lessons to students from age 25-68. I love working with beginners because they are open for new experience and ready to receive information. For voice students, I teach technique, do breathing and vocal exercises, and work on songs. I teach basic music reading, interpretation of songs, as well as good techique and diction.
