For younger students, I start with early fundamentals (music in general, breathing, and confidence) through easy songs that are recognizable and fun to learn. As a student ages, the voice matures, so I assess a student's vocal qualities and give them appropriate rep through their voice changing. I believe that piano and voice are conduits for expression of emotion and thought and are extremely beneficial in helping students find confidence and awareness. My main motto is that EVERYONE can make music and so I encourage all types of people to learn at my studio. My teaching experience dates back to my time at Washburn University, where I have taught several students. Now I teach at Missouri State University as a part of my assistantship. I encourage regular practice and motivation for students to see results. I have found that allowing students to express how they feel about the songs they sing really helps them become better performers.
