Overview:

I am a passionate, motivated, and fun instructor who loves working with students that express the same feelings toward music. In 2021, graduated with my Bachelors in Vocal Performance at Washburn University, and currently, I am at Missouri State University pursuing my Masters's in Music Vocal Performance. I have had the opportunity to play leading roles in operas such as Trial by Jury by Gilbert and Sullivan, Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck, Sweets by Kate by Giffin Candey, and more. Recently, I was one of the soloists in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana accompanied by the Missouri State University Symphony Orchestra.

EXPERIENCE

My teaching experience dates back to my time at Washburn University, where I have taught several students. Now I teach at Missouri State University as a part of my assistantship. I encourage regular practice and motivation for students to see results. I have found that allowing students to express how they feel about the songs they sing really helps them become better performers. Also, I encourage watching masterclasses over their songs they have and reading up on the opera or show their song is in.

METHODS USED

For beginning students who are new to music, I typically like to start with learning notes, note names, and rhythms. I like to incorporate rhythmic exercises and other fun activities to get them to enjoy what they are learning. For adults, I try to find out how much the student knows about music and see what their interests are. Based on what the student knows, I guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging, fun, and knowledgable. I strive to make what I teach clear, so if there is any confusion I will do my best to answer what is not clear.

LESSON STYLE

I love to see my students grow and develop a deeper passion for music. It is important that the student makes progress at his or her own pace. I encourage setting realistic goals in their practice and in our lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps keep the student motivated to become a better musician, and makes students eager to learn more. Finding what works for the student is important to me because not everyone learns the same. Therefore, tailoring my teaching style to accommodate the student is what I strive for!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
