I like to divide my lessons into three different parts the first part would be a warm up in wish we get ready all the necessary muscles involved in playing the instrument with exercises that would develop dexterity and coordination simultaneously, the second part of how to listen is based on learning a basic piece of music that is guaranteed to develop the basic skills to perform something that they are interested on, on the cliff part of the lesson is to choose a song that the student wants to learn and analyze it apply what we learned by playing the basic peace and the warm ups. I encourage all students to practice as much as possible. There is no way to improv without practice. For younger beginners, I will start with the basics of cello, mostly through the Essential Elements books. Once the student is ready, we will mostly stick to the Suzuki method, starting at cello book 1, and moving through each piece. For older beginners, I will still try to stick to Suzuki as a format, but will be open to letting the student choose what they might want to start playing. I will also try to keep a log of what students have worked on and need to work on, and would encourage them to do the same. Read More
