I work with each student to find songs which are appropriate for their voice, and songs they are excited about working on. I enjoy creating customized lesson plans for each individuals' needs. Matching students' goals with the tools needed to get them there is very important to me. Once my student understands the fundamentals I will begin to introduce scales, etudes, and solo pieces that are appropriate for their level. I also love to throw in a fun piece (a favorite song or something from the radio) at the end of my lessons. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in and focus on those areas. Most of my education and experience working with students comes from a background of counseling and social sciences. I try to approach teaching music and guitar in a similar way to how I would approach any other kind of teaching, and attribute my unique background and skillset to make my lessons effective for a diverse range of students.
