My teaching experience spans back to when I was in High School. I came from a very fortunate music program that focused heavily on marching band and jazz music. I had helped many incoming freshmen develop the skills necessary to succeed in the music program and watched them blossom into very talented, hard working musicians. After high school I continued to teach students and help them prepare for outside ensemble auditions, college auditions, and working on college repertoire with fellow students. Read More

Before I began teaching I was convinced that it wasnt for me. I thought my passion for music was best conveyed through performance. But after my first students gave their recital, I was overcome with a feeling that I could not replicate simply through my own performance. Each and every student is unique and therefore has their own set of goals and accomplishments to achieve and I am always thrilled when I feel that I have played a small role in that process. I started teaching guitar during college at a local middle school and enjoyed working with younger students. I have always maintained a group of students who I teach on a part-time basis. I also work as a college counselor, so I teach guitar because I thoroughly enjoy helping students learn and play guitar. Read More

I typically start by teaching them the parts of the guitar how to hold a guitar and all the physical fundamentals including fretting notes properly etc... then I ask them what their goals are as a player if they’re interested in learning a lot of theory or just want to sing and play with their friends etc.… Then I teach them the names of the strings and tell them to memorize them as well as the dot markers on the fretboard and then I have them learn some strumming patterns and a few simple chords to get them started and then begin learning the names of the notes from open position to 12th and then learning The major scale up the neck one string at a time… And I also incorporate the use of a Metronome which I find is hugely important… Then we incorporate a simple song that they can play with four chords from there onto learning how to harmonize the major scale and then incorporate more theory… All the while assessing their needs and fixing any trouble spots they’re having… Then on to scales and more theory and More Metronome work...And every couple of lessons I teach them a new song of their choosing to make sure that they’re having fun fun fun Read More

From 2013 - 2021, I lived in the Czech Republic, developing personal and collaborative projects outside of classical music such as singing and composing for Yo Soy Indigo (freak-folk-jazz), Looncall (dark electronic), as well as solo performances of original music. I have a deep appreciation for all genres and love to flow through them in my vocal performance and composition styles. I have recently graduated with my Master of Arts from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow under the tutelage of Kathleen Ferguson and Lorna Anderson. Read More

It is a great joy a honor to share the musical gifts and experiences I have cultivated since childhood. Indeed, music is a way to retain some essence of the best of life. Every student can partake in this to their own ability and desire, given a well structured environment in which to flourish. My decades of professional performing and teaching strings provides just this environment. As we move into an age of technological advances, it is all the more important to impart the myriad of traditional skills which the study of music provides. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
