I throughly enjoy making music. I started taking piano lessons when I was 5 years old and continued taking all the way through graduate school at TCU, where I graduated in 2016. Playing solo and collaborating with fellow musicians are still some of my favorite pass times. I enjoy playing all kinds of genres: Classical, pop, worship, Bossa Nova. Some of my most memorable experiences have been collaborative. From playing piano duets in grade school, singing in church choir, to accompanying in semi-professional competitions, like the Young Texas Artists Competition, I find performing with others is fun and exciting. For young children, consistency and fun are the name of the game. I like to use some simple materials and try to develop a love for the instrument and love for making music above all else. After a period of discovery and technical growth I will introduce material suitable for a recital performance. For young and older adults I like to take a more focused approach. I love to see all my students develop a passion for drumming and music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and by teaching them the songs they love the most. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I try to focus the lessons on the individual student. I use faber books as my main method, but also incorporate a lot of sheet music for my students' different repertoires. I have taught many classes on music fundamentals and theory.  I am also very knowledgeable about Alexander technique - a technique used to help those who suffer from performance anxiety. I am also well versed in music therapy and have used it to help people with mental disorders and physical pain achieve some level of relief. Read More

As I mentioned before, I evaluate each student’s starting ability and talent and devise a starting point accordingly.  I strive to motivate and inspire each student so that they begin to love the music they play and understand it well.  I teach each student based on his/her ability and potential and see that they make progress at their own pace.  I encourage progress and results as well as enjoyment of practicing and playing music.  I emphasize techniques and every musical ingredient necessary to achieve a superior, artistic level of playing. I have been playing trumpet since the fifth grade, with three years of piano prior to that. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Music Education, K-12, with minors in Jazz and Performance. I love music, whether it be playing it or teaching it, and it's what I see myself doing for the rest of my life. My teaching experience began in my years at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC). Next to the music building, I began to volunteer at the local daycare that was right next to the arts building. That experience is what led me to want to become a studio instructor. After those 3 years passed, I was unfortunately unable to teach privately through my time at TCNJ, as I was learning as many new techniques and tricks for both the euphonium and the trombone as I possible could.
