I’m a creative musician based in Memphis, Tennessee. I am a classical/jazz trombonist by training with additional experience as a composer, singer-songwriter and electronic musician. I live in the Cooper-Young area of Midtown, Memphis and teach from my home. I teach my students to be self sufficient and to problem solve by themselves. By doing this it allows the student to make logical decisions and corrections in their own practice so they can establish routines of their own. I want all students to be able to evaluate their own performances so they can use their own individual practice time efficiently. I tend to start beginning students with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements books, but if I find that the student either has previous experience or else progresses much faster than normal, I will move them to the Rubank Blue Book instead. Fundamentals are a critical element for learning any new instrument, and that includes playing scales.
