For beginning horn students I use the Rubank method as well as my own combination of etudes. Once the student has a solid understanding of the fundamentals a regimine of solos and etudes will be assigned, followed by the standard solo repertoire. For bass and guitar students I have my own method book that focuses on music theory, technique, as well as improvisation. I strongly believe in adapting my materials and method to best suit the student and the students need, I will work to help you achieve your goals! Read More

Methods change depending on a student's level. I want a beginner to feel completely comfortable being a beginner. We start with the basics and I adjust material to personal levels of development. If you have previous experience, we will use the first lesson to assess technique and repetorie and advance from there. I am aware of several piano workbooks that take you from beginner to level four, these are not always the best for every student. Read More

It is vital to show every student how talented they are. I set students up for success by giving them goals that are objective, acheivable, and flexible. Students should know exactly what I expect for the next lesson, so they can be be prepared. My goals for students are never to frustrate them, but challenge them to be better than they thought they could be. I like to leave each lesson with specific goals, but these goals have lots of room for "extra credit," meaning that students can experiment on thier own time with the exercises, allowing them to develope thier own unique musical style. Instruments: Trumpet
My teaching style is simple! I make having fun the most important part, especially for beginners because no one wants to do anything that isn't fun! It was the same for me when I started learning tennis. I ensure first that a student has a general grasp on basic scales and mechanics that are essential for the trumpet and afterwards I like to look into other components of the trumpet such as intonation, trumpet concertos and more advanced concepts such as attacks, soft/loud, playing higher, etc. Read More

I am very personal in the way I handle my lessons! You come to me and tell me what you are looking to learn or accomplish and I will put together a plan to make that happen. I work with a lot of artists on their original music as well, getting them ready for recording the music or performing live. I also teach from a holistic approach taking into account many different elements that affect vocal health / performance. Read More

I am a musician, songwriter, producer, and live sound engineer, but my biggest passion is sharing my knowledge of music with others. I graduated from the Minneapolis Media Institute with an associates degree in recording and live sound, and have been working as a freelance producer and songwriter in the Twin Cities. Music is my entire identity; whether I am producing or writing for work, or playing shows for fun, I am constantly either consuming or creating music. Read More
