It shows me that they not only understand the material, but that they care about what it is they are learning by striving to improve. Melissa started teaching during her senior year of college when she took her first vocal pedagogy course. Teaching has been an important part of her schedule ever since. Over the years, she has taught privately, through various community schools, through several national companies, and she served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Illinois State University for two years. I thoroughly enjoy seeing students progress, and the main ingredient in progression is practice! I try to make sessions memorable and keep the content engaging so that students can carry that with them throughout the week. I find if students aren't engaged in what the current task is, they will find it difficult to move forward and progress through their learning process.
