I received my formal training in music at the University of New Hampshire, having earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory and Composition and a Master of Science degree in Music Education. I have proudly produced three students who are now independent music thinkers in their own rights. My first student was my mother, ironically, as she was the one who brought me to music. Now, she is a capable piano player whose repertoire ranges from Mozart to Chopin. She works harder on the piano than anyone I have met. My second student was a colleague at NJIT. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons 8 years ago. I only had a couple of students at that time due to my workload in school and other curricular activities, but I felt comfortable in my ability to teach the drums intuitively, thanks to my drum teacher. In 2012, I graduated from Ithaca College with Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Composition and Music Theory. I spent the past year teaching composition, choral directing, and accompanying undergraduate performance majors at a study abroad institute in Vienna, Austria. My teaching experience started as a clarinet instructor in an after school program with students from 5th to 12th grade. I have taught for 15 years in the after school music program system in addition to maintaining a private clarinet studio with students of different ages and skill levels. It has been very rewarding to witness my students excelling in their musical journey. I truly enjoy preparing students for their recitals, competitions, districts, community orchestras or band performances or just getting to the next level of playing. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than passing the knowledge of music to my students. It truly is an invaluable gift to have the experience and feeling that playing music gives to a person. The student will carry this with them the rest of life and that truly inspires me to push my students to find their own voice on their instrument.
