I am so excited to see my students grow in their vocal craft. Using correct placement and vocal methods, I hope for all of my students to develop healthy, fluid, and consistency of sound flow! I promise I am patient, kind, empathetic, and I understand that while getting proper vocal technique is important, there is nothing more important than mental health. If a student comes in feeling stressed out or unwell, I will do my best to bring them into a more positive mindset. Read More

Hello everyone! Today I will share with you my teaching experience in a few brief general statements: Due to a hearty touring schedule, most of my experience stems from the privilege of masterclasses around the world but mostly America, Germany, and Denmark along with some private teaching. I have done a guest mindfulness/meditative workshop class with The Jacobs School of Music Summer String Academy and taught orchestra programs and performed school visitstions as a guest artist that have included variations of lectures mixed with question and answer models. I cater my teaching and methods to each individual student and his/her needs and goals. For beginners, I often use Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements. After progressing past that, the Rubank books and Hite etudes work for many students. Starting around 8th grade, I introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their level. During lessons, I always have students work on some form of scale, sight-reading, and ear training. I have several duet books (and a Disney book!) that students love to sight-read from. Read More

Instilling a fundamental mastery of the instrument and musicianship is my top priority, no matter how long it may take. My approach to methods will vary depending on the student. For beginners, I like using the Robert Getchell books, in addition to the My First Arban, Essential Elements, and my own exercises. Intermediate/Advanced students will likely work from the Clarke, Arban, Vizzutti, Bai Lin, Belck, Rudd and Gekker books, in addition to other resources. Read More

What do YOU want to learn!? In order for me to teach you, I need to learn about yourself in order to assess the best way to help your overall instrument skills. What kind of music do you like? What is your current skill set? What are your overal goals and aspirations? These things help me to provide a curriculum that is specific for each individual students needs. Each student is blessed with a specific skill set and talents, and it's only right that I spark an interest and a desire for students to want to practice, and become excited for the next lesson. My musical journey began at nine years old with piano lessons - not at all an uncommon beginning but an important one. Less than two years later I joined the band playing clarinet. As a high school student, all-state performances and honor bands fiilled many weekends, and I had the privilege of playing regularly in my church on the piano. While playing in a youth symphony as a senior, we toured in Austria absorbing centers of musical history and playing in four uniquely different venues including a wing of the Schonbrunn Palace. I believe the foundation of progress is consistency, so I try to establish routines with my students, spending part of each lesson on technical exercises, theory/aural skills training, and repertoire. I also set performance goals for students by organizing recitals *this has been more tricky during Covid, but I think it is important nonetheless to get students to perform from memory at least twice a year (once at the end of fall and spring terms).
