I started teaching lessons when I was 18 at a music business and taught there between 3 to 5 hours a week for about 5 years. For the past 5 years I have been teaching at IU. I have taught many different styles from classical to jazz to rock, etc. and have also watched many great teachers and tried to learn from their methods. I work closely with the student (and/or their parent) to discuss their goals and aspirations for clarinet lessons. From these discussions I will develop personalized lesson plans to help them reach their goals. In all of my lessons I emphasize the use of fundamentals to develop technique. I promise I am patient, kind, empathetic, and I understand that while getting proper vocal technique is important, there is nothing more important than mental health.
