Although this is my first official teaching job, I began teaching back in 2011 during my freshman year of high school. I had the pleasure of conducting and teaching both concert and chamber orchestra. I then became a student assistant my senior year and was able to do one-on-one's with the younger students. I encourage my students to go home and practice their scales. They are the key to the perfect bow hand/movement, structure, and agile finger movement. Read More

I teach from my home studio. I teach private lessons and give my students my full attention which has proved to be the key to my continually increasing student enrollment and high retention rate. Music has been an integral part of my life, playing a major role in both my personal and professional life. I embrace the chance to be immersed in it, to share my enthusiasm for and expertise in the area of music education, promoting creative development and student performance skills. Read More

I love seeing my students set and reach goals. I make sure that realistic goals are set and that I show the student the steps to reach those goals. If a student does not feel successful, then they are more likely to not practice as much or quit all together. I want my students to feel excited about music and want to practice. I try to find out what motivates and inspires each student in order to tailor my teaching to each individual. Read More

My methods will depend to a degree upon each individual student's musical tastes and ambitions. For example, I would put much more focus on developing picking hand foundations for a classical guitarist while the fretting hand would receive more early attention for the metal shredder. This said, there are common general goals that can be set for all guitarists as they track and improve their skills. The guitar is a physical tool, and it is learned as such: the student learns how to handle the tool, how to carry out the various uses of the tool, and how to apply the tool's uses to the art they wish to create. Throughout my teaching career, I witnessed countless moments of transformation. Many students who once approached the piano with trepidation have blossomed into confident performers, winning accolades and earning opportunities to share their talents on stage. The joy I derive from these successes is evident in every lessoneach achievement, whether big or small, celebrated as a milestone in my students personal journey of discovery. My teaching philosophy centers around empathy, adaptability, and continuous learning. Read More

I have had the pleasure of working with students young and old. I have had over 30 years of teaching experience. Nothing is more rewarding than to see my students excel and find their own style to develop as they progress. I am passionate about teaching and want my students to enjoy learning. I am also a performing musician. I have been involved in many types of music all my life. Read More

As a teacher, I always want to accomodate to the student's vision of what he or she would like to achieve through learning music. Personalizing lesson plans and objectives in this way is extremely empowering to the student and promotes more devotion of time to learning outside of the lessons. I strongly believe the most important way to measure a student's progress is by setting short-term and long-term goals. By helping the student develop or facilitate their goals, learning music is far more rewarding and will become an activity that will last a lifetime. Read More
