I have had the pleasure of working with students young and old. I have had over 30 years of teaching experience. Nothing is more rewarding than to see my students excel and find their own style to develop as they progress. I am passionate about teaching and want my students to enjoy learning. I am also a performing musician. I have been involved in many types of music all my life. Read More

My methodologies for teaching will vary based on different factors such as age and level of musical knowledge. The number one thing I try and do for my students is make sure they have FUN and ENJOY the process of learning. I do like to use established books that focus on the fundamentals of music such as the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Books. Literature like that is very informative, but also a bit clinical at times, so I always like to find out what my students want to play and tailor lessons towards their specific goals. Read More

Instruments: Violin Viola Music

I teach Classically trained Violin, viola, and piano. I am equally comfortable teaching very beginners as well as high school and adult students. I am very honest in my feedback. I like to stick to the former. I strongly believe that a good, strong foundation leads to fewer problems in the future and makes the process of music-making much more enjoyable. My main goal is to help raise individuals, who are critical thinkers, who are passionate about what they do, and who will take their love of music into the adulthood whether playing it professionally or as an amateur. Instruments: Piano

I am a pianist and educator originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia! I love to perform, but I am also passionate about educating the next generation of musicians. I studied music very seriously as a child, which led to many performance opportunities in the area and around the world! I have played concerti with several fantastic orchestras, and I greatly enjoy playing chamber music. My most recent job took me around the world performing with a piano quintet. Read More

I create a customized curriculum based on the experience and age of each student. There are specific method books that I use, but my choices completely depend on the individual student and instrument that I am selecting material for. I like to create a well balanced curriculum of fun, technique and challenge in each lesson. Read More

Instruments: Guitar

My main goal right off the bat for my students is to get them playing from the very first lesson, starting with basic chords, and even have them practice a simple riff or lick from a song that they might recognize. In my philosophy, because this is how I was taught, it is important to keep the student interested, having fun, while still learning the things that they may consider "boring." I do this by implementing songs that they may know, or songs that they want to learn, and use that to teach what chords the song is using, what scales it might be using, and from that, have them practice the song and chord or scale accordingly. Simply put, music is one of the greatest forces for good in this world that I have had the pleasure to experience. I'd like to give to my students the ability to find the same joy I have found in it, and this is my primary focus in any teaching situation. Because of this, I make it a point to learn what influences and inspires each person I work with so that I can better put myself in their shoes and get an idea of what stylistic avenues they may enjoy pursuing. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
