I typically have students begin by playing something they are comfortable with that they enjoy, and we go from there. I am comfortable teaching a variety of methods and like to help the student achieve their individual goals, whatever those may be. I am very passionate about music. I love to teach and pass along what i know so that others can continue to create music for profit and personal enjoyment. I am a very low pressure teacher. If you are not enjoying your time then no one is benefiting from the lessons. I use a marker board, books, a metronome, paper and pencils etc to tech lessons. I do not send home "homework" but i will assign practice exercises for students to do between classes and will check on the progress and results when we meet for our next lesson. Read More

I started teaching while I was in college. I started working with a local high school band, where I was in charge of marching as well as the woodwinds. I would run woodwind sectionals and from those students, I gain private students. I have given lessons on flute, saxophone, and clarinet. Each student is different. My teaching style depends on the need of the student. However, generally, I will start with technical exercises to help the student work on a particular skill that can be used in a variety of songs (ex. tone production, vowels, diction).
