Overview:
I started out playing cornet in elementary school, switching to Baritone horn in middle school and switching to tuba in the high school band. I also began playing bass guitar in those high school days in the late '60s and early '70s. Playing in rock bands, I decided to Study music at Norfolk State and Old Dominion University, after high school, wanting to learning more about music. I began playing professionally with the Norfolk Symphony, played in the pit band for touring Broadway shows, and subsequently hit the road as a touring musician with popular regional dance bands. For the last thirty-five years, I've made a name for himself as a jazz musician, composer and private instructor, performing throughout southeastern Virginia. Currently keeping the groove with the Little Doors, Who We Are Not, Ron Fetner, Luca Burgalassi, Richard Spano, Mark Rogers.

METHODS USED
Practice Regiment 1. Play everyday when humanly possible a) Warm up by starting out playing scales slowly, gradually increasing the speed. Use a metronome or drum machine. b) If you feel any pain or discomfort, STOP and come back later. You must build up the muscles first. 2. Knowing where the notes are on the fret board a) Memorize! b) Start with the lowest string and play all the notes, all the way up the neck. c) Repeat with each String. d) Say the notes out loud. If your hand or fingers hurt, or you get frustrated STOP playing, you can do damage to your hands and your mind. Come back after taking a pause and try again. This takes time don’t overdo it! Enjoy playing and have fun doing it. Schedule time to practice. 15 minutes a day or more if possible. Use this as a Guide. Find the best Practice Regiment that works for you.
LESSON STYLE
Beginning Students need direction, depending on natural abilities. Intermediate Students need direction to hone the skills they start with. Advanced students need guidance to decide where they want to go with their careers. Helping students with their Passion for music, extends beyond playing, Composition, Arranging, understanding Theory and reading music can create a better atmosphere for learning. Teaching is a two way street, both teacher and student need to stay on the right side of the road to connect musically.
