Instruments: Guitar
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I started teaching guitar when I was in Highschool(4 years ago), initially learning guitar in public school I had a very large communal aspect of what specifically Classical Guitar was. As I grew and took guitar more seriously, I entered a high school classical guitar class, many of my peers were beginners, and me having had taken lessons for 5 years prior the teacher allowed me to help out with teaching the instrument. For beginning students, children or adults, the first thing is to work on body position: the hands, arms, wrist and shoulder to avoid having the wrong positions of the body which could lead to physical problems in the future. Then it is important to learn the basic music skills: scales, arpeggios, basic harmony, and finger techniques. Once the students have progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals we can follow two parallel lines, studying advanced techniques and varied bass repertoire and at the same time focusing on what the student is interested in. Instruments: Oboe English Horn
For beginning oboists I typically start with the Gekeler Method for Oboe. Once a student has moved passed the basics the fun begins with Ferling Etudes, the Barret Oboe Method, and the Vade Mecum! There is a wide variety of solos, sonatas, and concertos available for study between these method books intended solely for oboists. They also include duets that are fun to play together, and repertoir for the English horn as well. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For beginning students, I use the Piano Adventure Series by Nancy Faber and Randall Faber. I also use the A Thousand Stories for a Little Pianist by Katrin Arefy. My special methods in teaching young students include stories, easy duets, and singing familiar folk songs. For intermediate level students, I use different method books according to the student's interests. However, I encourage them to play Classical music, which is very useful in developing good techniques in piano playing. Read More

I am a currently attending SJSU for my Music Education degree. My main instrument is trombone, but I also teach beginning piano among other instruments. I love teaching, and I enjoy seeing my students learn and grown in their love and passion for music. I also currently teach at various schools around South San Jose. My passion on top of teaching is also advocating for music and groups who may not have access. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Euphonium
I really value input from all of my students no matter what age. This keeps our lessons fun and challenging. It is very important that each student sets their own goals to reach at the end of each lesson to achieve for the next week. I am a big advocate of positive reinforcement. For my younger trumpeters I like to use stickers and to play fun duets whenever they achieve their goals. Read More
