I am a huge music enthusiast, and love almost every discipline from classical to pop. I am primarily a classical pianist, and I have been taking lessons for about 10 years from an adjunct professor at Tulane University, but I also enjoy playing jazz/blues and pop. In addition to playing, I compose many of my own piano pieces, as well as create arrangements of popular songs and produce music electronically. Read More

My teaching experience goes back 9 years. Before I moved to Chicago for school, I lived with my parents in Springfield, IL and taught private drum lessons out of their basement. Although I did not have a lot of experience teaching, I realized how rewarding it was to see a student learnand gain confidence on their instrument. It was something that I wanted to do more and saw a future in teaching. Read More

I began my journey as a mentor and teacher as a camp counselor back when I was in High School. Since then, I have developed my teaching style and experience through offering private and group music lessons in after school programs, music studios, and middle schools across Massachusetts. From 2013-2015 I went back to school for my masters in Community Music Education, where I studied traditional and experiential learning, progressive and alternative education, as well as arts administration and childhood development. Once I have identified students’ individualities, I acknowledge their strengths and focus my teaching on their weaknesses. For some, this may mean reevaluation of their posture and technique, as well as their consequent effects on tone production, shifting, intonation, and ease of playing. Many of the individual actions that make up technique can be broken down into several elements. The study of basics technical exercises is a practical way for students to overcome bad habits that have been ingrained over the years. Read More

For me, it's about building or finding moments. Finding out what is going to motivate you to learn that song, practice that chord, and try to instill the desire to show it off for next time. Once I find out where the student is at, wether they are learning their first chords or songs, or they have been trying for a while or just getting back to their old habit of picking up the instrument, the goal is to set the mark where one will wait eagerly for the next lesson, to show off their new found skill. My goal is for the student to have fun and participate in the direction of their education while learning important theory and repertoire from the canon. For beginner students, I like the Rubank methods volumes 1 and 2 for fundamentals. This will be supported through tone development exercises and etudes for technique. I will introduce serious music as soon as possible commensurate with ability. Adults will be encouraged to follow their own interests, but with a continued eye on the fundamentals and canonic literature. Read More
Instruments: Drums
Students will learn to play along to their favorite songs at an early stage. By introducing students to concepts within their own music, the fundamentals will always be a part of every lesson, and concepts will grow and evolve alongside the student's skills. Students will learn: What you need to start drumming How to stay drumming safe Drum terminology Setting up your drums Tuning your drums Proper stick grips Hand and foot technique Music theory and how to read drumming notation Fundamental drumming patterns (rudiments) Read More
