My goal is to inspire and invigorate my students with the gift of music. Scales and fingering/vocal exercises can become boring and tiresome especially for new and younger students. I find ways to make these more mundane parts of the lesson fun with games and veiled learning that keep students engaged. I've seen the face of an 80 year old grasping the ukulele and finally getting to hear himself playing his own songs, and seeing the glow in his eyes like a child. When you set realistic goals and set what steps are going to get you there, all the while celebrating each little victory, every lesson depends on the needs of my student. My teaching experience began while helping at the New Orleans String Project when my sisters were learning Viola. In my off time, I would assist the teachers. Later I began giving lessons through some members fo the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra to which I have played and excelled through all of the group's sinfonia, Philharmonia, and Symphony.
